Sampietrino is Rome!

July 28th, 2008 · No Comments

Where does the term sampietrino come from? From the marvellous scenery of San Peter, in the maintenance of which were interested the workers called “sampietrini”. The name of this typical Roman stone is dated 1725 by Monsignor Ludovico Sergardi who decided to use these special stones to make the San Peter square more comfortable and safe to all the people passing there. For the foreigners from all over the world, a sampietrino could be a nice surprise, discovering an authentic testimonial of the ancient times.
